This Certified Rebuilt Steinway baby grand piano is the ideal instrument for a home with limited space. It is a fine example of Steinway’s quality hand-crafted instruments during the Golden Age of piano manufacturing in the USA.
AMC Certified Rebuilt Pianos include a refinished case, a new pinblock, new hammers, shanks and flanges, new strings and felt, tuning, voicing and action regulation. All brass has been polished to like-new or has been replaced. It comes with a 5-year moving parts warranty and 100% trade-in guarantee.
History of the Model S:
Steinway and Sons introduced the Model S in 1935. The Model S was launched with much fanfare by the company and it is still in production to this day. The Model S design is based upon and scaled-down from the larger 5’7″ Model M. The smaller size and lower cost of this piano are considered by many to be the Steinway Company’s savior during the financial hardships of the Great Depression. Cosmetically, the Model S looks very similar to the Model M with the main interior difference being that the cast iron plate has five plate cooling holes instead of the six on the M.
The Steinway Model S is the smallest baby grand that Steinway manufactures – a place this model of piano still occupies, and is one of the most popular in-demand models due to the fact that it fits nicely in any size room, condo, or apartment. Although smaller in size, it still has a respectable bass register and the powerful clear tone that Steinway is famous for. Its main advantage is its small size. This model is perfect for those who want the grand feel of a Steinway piano, but don’t have the room in their house for a larger instrument. The quality, value, and size factor makes the Model S an excellent choice for those looking for a quality hand-crafted piano that fits well within any room or setting.
At 5′ 1″ (155 cm), this piano is the smallest of the Steinway grands. This design was introduced in the 1930s to invite the majesty of the Steinway sound into almost any space.
